About us
Austin and Amber Tsumas started dating in high school, and shortly thereafter, they both went to North Greenville University. Austin graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies, and Amber graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. A few weeks after graduating, they got married and jumped into vocational ministry!
They have three beautiful (and wild!) kids. Caleb is 8, Norah is 6, and Jovie is 3.
Ministry experience
Austin and Amber served in music ministry for nearly 10 years, and still love the opportunity to lead worship together. For the past 6 years, they have been leading the student ministry at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Durham, NC, calling young people to know Christ and to boldly make Him known.
As they faithfully taught God’s Word, prioritized corporate prayer, equipped people to boldly share the gospel, all the while making disciples on a personal level, God immensely blessed their ministry.
Their once dying student ministry baptized 19 people last year, has 24 leaders who are actively making disciples, and between their students and leaders, they have had nearly 500 gospel conversations with those in the Durham community.
New York City
Every day, Austin and Amber pray through Luke 10:2 at 10:02am. In Luke 10:2, Jesus says, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
As they prayed this prayer, looking for opportunities to share the gospel with others, in 2020, God broke their hearts for New York City—one of the most influential cities in the world (along with London), filled with nearly 9 million people, yet is only 3% reached with the gospel.
While numerous obstacles stand in their way to plant a church in Manhattan, NYC, God has called them to go, and they believe wholeheartedly that He will make a way. After all, the moment Jesus rose up from the dead, the word “impossible” became an illusion. Is there anything too hard for our God to do now? Certainly not.
They plan to move to Manhattan this summer 2023, and can’t wait to see how God is going to work in—and through—them to make much of Christ in NYC and the world.
